Florida men charged in federal drug case

A cooperative effort by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration and Miami and Palm Beach officials has resulted in charges against men from Boca Raton, Deerfield Beach and Parkland. The men allegedly conspired to traffic in, possess, and distribute various drugs, including Alprazolam and counterfeit Xanax. Additionally, two of the men are charged with conspiracy to posses anabolic steroids and conspiracy to possess cocaine with intent to distribute. One of the men is also charged with firearm possession with a felony on his record.

Undercover officers were involved in the incidents that led to the charges. In an initial encounter, there was an alleged attempt to sell counterfeit Xanax to an officer. The man charged with firearm possession reportedly sold a Romanian version of an AK-47 rifle to the officer as well. A separate alleged drug sale involved a second undercover official who was sold anabolic steroids. Two of the defendants reportedly attempted to buy one kilogram of cocaine from an officer also. Reports note that one of the men also attempted to have associates beat up and killed by one of the undercover officers.
